Mastuj is located about 50 km from the Afghan border in the far northwest of Pakistan. Most of the inhabitants are Ismaili Muslims, less strict in many ways than other Muslim sects. Genetically there is evidence that the European looks are a result of the visit of Alexander the Great's army 2300 years ago.
