In many parts of the World, especially where people have, by western standards, very little, babies and toddlers are attached to another human. The human is likely to be their mother, but is often an elder sibling or relative, perhaps the father. This seems a much more natural state of affairs, other apes after all carry their young, than the common practice amongst richer people of putting a baby in a wheelchair or similar. Almost certainly better for the baby, babies attached to another human rarely cry, feeling secure, taking in all that is happening around them.
